Leadership Learning Lab

On February 5 I had the privilege of attending a small circle of thinkers and practitioners who were part of the Leader as Designer discussion circle sponsored by The Banff Centre's magically diverse leadership learning program - the Leadership Learning Lab.

I had a chance to be part of a dialogue involving Brian Woodward, Bob Robertson, Colin Funk, a theatre director, an administrative staff member, myself and the myriad other people we had collectively read, studied, and interacted with over the years. Few things are as enjoyable as finding a setting where the exchange of ideas and thoughts is mutually beneficial.

Some of the people I have been working through lately as part of my ongoing ingenuity research include Seth Godin, Marty Neumeier, Tom Peters, Kalle Lasn and Peter Senge. In addition to these distant people, my communications team and other workspace collaborators have been a significant stimulus to understanding the pitfalls and potential of organizational re-design on an actual working ship.

Ongoing workload demands a constant movement between theory and practice - a dynamic that I am particularly fond of even though it means less time for everything I want to practice or study. It irritates and inspires in a seemingly continuous cycle. Growth.
