Cafe Blue - Lamp Design
I began the design of this lamp in preparation for a Christmas party that required a gift of less than five dollars that was homemade. LED lights are cool - literally - and I had some interesting MDF shapes I had cut out in the past for a use that never materialized. Those elements came together in the creation of the Cafe Blue lamp. I used a discarded set of Christma lights, removed the plastic bulb covers, wired in a rotary switch, wrapped the cluster of lights. Then I assembled it all, painted it, added a blue velvet base and - magic. Almost. It still needed something. While tinkering with my collection of translucent blue LEGO blocks I suddently wondered if the LED wasn't the same size as a LEGO block post. It was. The second photo is of the pre-LEGO light The first photo is the finished version. This combination of LED, LEGO and flexible wiring could go in myriad directions. I decided to keep the lamp.
